Situated in the thriving community of Masstown, at the intersection of Hwy 2 and George Porter Rd sits a hardware store with a long history. Though it has recently changed hands, one thing remains the same, it is and has always been family owned and operated.
Chris and Devin Thompson took over Masstown Hardware, a Castle Building Centre, in July of 2020. Their predecessors Kurt and Noel Gratto were pleased to see a new family, brothers, come in to create their own legacy. Chris and Devin grew up in Crowes Mills, Nova Scotia. Their Parents Glen and Liz Thompson raised them to appreciate the value of a dollar and what it meant to put in a hard day’s work. Many locals will remember Thompsons Service Station which was owned and operated by their late father Glen Thompson.
The hardware scene is nothing new to the Thompson boys. They have run a successful contracting company together since 2015. DC Thompson’s Construction produces quality work and exceptional carpentry. The knowledge and skill set of carpenters owning a hardware store is unique to Masstown Hardware and an asset to customers and contractors alike.
Masstown hardware has been a staple to the small coastal community of Masstown for decades. The hardware store only continues to thrive under new ownership. Together with their wives they are successful in keeping things innovative and modern.
Quality product, exceptional service and experienced staff makes Masstown Hardware the best place to start any project big or small.
